Beijing / Shangai weather end Dec/Begining January

How you compare weather from north to south during months of december / january ? I read that Beijing will be too cold in late december and for example a day trip to Great Wall will be too risky in high chilly winds . What about Shanghai and down south ?

There is a big difference on climate between the south and north part of China. Beijing is cold during December with an average temperature below zero. Shanghai is much warmer with an average temperature at about 5C.
During Dec, it is so cold to make a day trip to Badaling, but it is acceptable to travel in Shanghai.
