About:China Visa

Do Nepalese need an extra visa for in-airport layovers in China?

We have 2 layovers in China, on a single ticket from the US to Nepal. US citizens are allowed visa without entry at no charge, are Nepali people allowed this as well? Our layovers are in Beijing & Kunming, and add up to less than 24 hours.
