About:China Student Visa

Student visa costs and duration

Hi - I've just been awarded a scholarship to study on a 3year course in China, will I only need to apply for 1 visa that will cover the duration of my time there? I'm also not sure if it would be F or X as I'd be conducting PhD research, would this be considered employment?

If you will study for 3 years, the visa type should be X. F is issued to applicants who will study for less than 6 months, or for business. A single entry is enough, because you will be able to get a residence permit within 30 days after entry. The permit will allow free entry and exit during its validity.
