About:

Bullet train tickets from Shanghai to Beijing

I am trying to buy bullet train tickets. With my online research I can get in a bullet train only in Hongqiao railway station if I am trying to go to Beijing. I have a few questions here:

1. Where should I book the tickets for the bullet train? Should I have to go to Hongqiao or can I do it in the Shanghai railway station. I'll be staying near Shanghai railway during my stay.

2. Is there going to be a lot of crowd for me to book thee tickets? I am in shanghai in last week of October.

3. Which part of Beijing should I go to if my hotel is 2 kms away from Forbidden city?

4. What is the probability of getting the bullet tickets if I would be booking them 2 days ahead of my trip?

If you want to book it online, I think you can use https://www.travelchinaguide.com/china-trains/ to book. You have to go to Hongqiao, because all the bullet trains for Beijing leaves at Hongqiao.
It will not be crowded when you take the train.
The train only stops in Beijing South Railway Station and you have to go to you hotel by yourself by the subway.
It is possible to get the tickets two days ahead then.
