About:Chinese Consulate in Vancouver

Do I need a Chinese Visa for a stopover about 20 hours?

I will have a stop over of approximately 20 hours on my flight from Sydney Australia to Vancouver (arrive 21:05 on 16 March 2013 and depart 18:15 on 17 March 2013) and would like to spend the night at a downtown hotel in Shanghai. I am a Canadian citizen traveling on a Canadian Passport. Do I require a Visa from the Chinese Consulate for this stopover? Thank you. Fred Harris

Hi Fred, you are not required visa to transit in Shanghai and depart within 48 hours. You can go out of the airport to the city.
