About:China Visa Exemption

Do I need a chinese Visa if I visit China from Canada? I have Home Visit Re-entry Permit.

Your answer to my question on July 20th said 'That means you have Home Visit Re-entry Permit? if yes, you can use the automated passenger clearance channels at immigration control points in Shanghai, visa is not required.'

I have not register for the 'automated passenger chearance channels'. Does that means I need to go through Custom? If so, does my 'Home Visit re-entry Permit' good enough to clean custom without a visa?

Hi Tobey, may I know if you hold Canadian passport? I get the information that if you fly directly from Canada to China, you must apply for China visa in advance, unless you have HK SAR passport. Some airlines will require visa as well if you will not transit via HK.
