Do I need an adapter to for my laptop?

I am currently in china, and I have found that my laptop plug fits into the top portion of the outlets here. Is this okay. the adapters I brought have the same or similar shape. (I am not able to use the bottom portion of the outlet with the three prongs.

The adapter in China is for your to transfer the voltage. Although your plug fits into the top portion of the outlets, but the voltage does not fit so well. China use 220 V, but in western countries, they use other voltage. So you had better use your adapter.
