You should apply for a China tourist visa from the China Embassy or consulate in your living place in Australia in advance, since China doesn't issue on-arrival visas to foreigners unless they are under emergencies. If you are Australia citizen, You will have to apply for the China visa through the China Visa Application Service Center now. The visa fee is 60 Australian dollars for a single entry China visa, but you have to pay an addtional service fee of 58.5 Australian dollars as well.
