I plan to visit Hainan in the last week of September 2012.

I know that 1/10/12 to 10/10/12 is the big holiday in China. Will I have any problem in getting hotel accommodation in Haikou and Sanya ? What would you recommend for a 4 to 5 star hotel.

Yes. There is a big holiday in China in early October and all the hotels will be in great demand. As far as I know, some of the hotels in popular places have already been fully booked during that period. I suggest you make the reservation as early as possible as Hainan is also a very popular destination for travelers.
