Visiting the Forbidden City

How long (approx hours) would i need to visit it as I only have a short stay in Beijing and wonder if it would be possible to see in a morning before my flight that afternoon?

Two to three hours will be enough for a general visiting, but if you want to enjoy every corner of the great place, you may need about 8 hours.
I once visited there for a whole day by myself. It is wonderful.
