About:Chinese Embassy in Australia

Do I need a visa to visit Hong Kong and Canton?

We are goig to Hong kong for 7 days in September but would like to visit Canton -do we need a visa for that as well?

Yes, you do need a separate visa for your visit to Canton, and you can either apply for the visa from the emabssy or consulate in your living place in Australia or in Hk. I advise you prepare everything well ahead of your travel to avoid any unexpected problems during the trip.
