Lost passport by visiting 13 year old Chinese student

We have a 13 year old Chinese student staying with us. She had her passport lost or possibly stolen at the airport in Denver. How can we help her get a new passport so she can return home? Hr name is Yu Jia and her passport number is G49016748. She plans to return on August 4th, and if possible, we would like to get her a replacement passport without having to travel to a Chinese counsel or to the embassy, as that would use up almost half of her time to visit with us. Thank you for your help. Ralph Ogden 303-263-7811

I am not sure if you live in Colorado, if yes, she needs to apply for the replacement of her passport in person from Consulate General of China in Chicago. The official website of Chinese embassy in USA has clear procedure for this in Chinese version.
Documents required are: application form for Chinese passport; 4 passport photos 48mmx33mm; copy of her passport if any; US visa or residence permit if any.
Also, she needs to prepare a letter including the loss of her passport, detailed information of her passport, contact and residence in China.
