You can enter China with a tourist visa. But the visa entries should be based on the times you plan to enter mainland China. Keep in mind that leaving for HK and Macao counts an exit from Mianland China. If only once, a single entry China tourist visa is enough. If you plan to visit Tibet you need to prepare and apply for a Tibet Travel Permit. With a China visa, you can visit all other cities.
