Flying to Vancouver with transfer in Guangzhou - need a visa?

I'm travelling on a Canadian passport. I'll have to transfer plane in Guangzhou on my way to Vancouver (from Sydney). My transit time - time between flights - in Guangzhou is 9 hours. Do I need a Chinese visa for the transit?
