is it possible to have a visa the same day?

I'm a french citizen working as a university professor in Switzerland; Il will be in the USA before going to China and I will have few days before moving to Hong Kong and then to Beijing. Is-it possible to to apply for the visa, and receive it on the same day in Bern? Sincerely
