For frequent visit to China, it is better for him to apply for a multiple entry Business visa. First, you need to check where his application should be handed into, say consulate or CVASC according to his residence. If for CVASC, he is required to make an online appointment, and application can be done by someone else if he can not go in person. Documents required for Business visa are passport, application form attached with photo, invitation letter from China, Covering letter from his company with the details of the visiting purpose and support for multiple entry visa to China.
