What type of visa do I need to leave the airport in Guangzhou for my 15 hour stop over? single?

You can either choose to apply a transit visa in advance in the Chinese Consulate in Perth or apply a stay permit at the Guangzhou airport frontier. Either of the two documents will allow you to leave the airport.
