chinese tourist visa for south african.

Question

I am a south african going to travel China in August 2012 for 11 days. Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Guilin. I have to apply for a Double entry visa, because I am leaving China for Hong Kong and back to China for Guilin. I have to get a letter from the Chinese Goverment for my Tourist visa. How do I get one?

As far as I know, applying L visa in South Africa does not require invitation letter. If you are informed by the embassy for a invitation letter, then you need to get one through a travel agency.

Well if the embassy says you need a letter this invitation letter must get approved from the foreign affairs office if you have a friend if not just a letter want be accepted from the embassy .

The problem is: the Chinese Embassy in Cape Town does not know about this letter and neither does the travel agencies here. But other South Africans have told me about it. I dont have any family or friends and I dont know anyone in China, where/how can I get this Letter from the Chinese Goverment?

Hi ANNEMIE, if you do not know anyone in China, you can book a tour, the travel agency is able to send an invitation letter to you. Anyhow, please check first with the embassy as Melissa replied above, you may be not required invitation letter to apply for a tourist visa to China.

I got my Chinese Tourist, double entry, visa with out a Letter form the Chinese Goverment. I just had to give them my flight info, accommodation info, 3months bank statments and I gave them my own Itinerary.
