About:Chinese Embassy in U.S.A.

Do I need a VISA of any kind if flying one-way on a companion ticket from China to USA?

If there are no seats available on standby with my companion ticket on the day I choose to fly and I need to stay overnight in the airport, do I need to have a tourist or transit VISA? If no, but I choose to stay in a hotel for the night, do I then need any type of VISA?

If you just stay at the airport and departure within 24 hours, you need no visa. Since you want to leave the airport and stay in a hotel, you need to apply a stay permit at the airport when you arrives in China.
