Do I need a Visa Notice?

I work at a govt. university, Dhahran. I want to visit Beijing on a Business Trip to attend a conference. Would an invitation letter from inviting university suffice? or do I require a visa notice?

The invitation letter from the Chinese University who invite you will do for your F visa application, and you do not need a visa notice.
