document authentication in germany

Question

My family lives in Germany, but we are all US Citizens.  We are adopting from China and need to have several documents (like police clearance) Authenticated by the Chinese embassy.  What do we need to do in order to get these forms Authenticated?  We are living in Kaiserslautern (so Rheinland-Pfalz).  Also, can we get US-originating documents Authenticated or only German-issued documents?  Thanks!!

Chinese embassy /ensulate in Germany only authenticate German-originating documents. And the document should be first certified by the Authentication Office in Kaiserslautern, then by the Federal  Administration. 　The requirements for authentication afterwards at the embassy are as follows:1. Application form for Authentication 　　2. The original and copy of documents you are going to be authenticated.
