12 weeks internship in Beijing, L visa or F visa?

Dear Sir or Madam,
I am doing an 12 weeks internship this summer in Beijing and was about to apply for a tourist visa. Now I read that it is only valid for 30 days and than I have to extent it in China. What shall I put on the appication form as my longest intended stay? 30 days or 90 days? Thank you very much for your help

You shall write 90 days longest intended stay on the application form as your longest intended stay, in fact, you should apply for Business visa (F visa) to do less than 6 months internship rather than tourist visa (L visa).

Dear Bruce,
thank you very much. I was told I should apply for a tourist visa because it is easier to get. Is there a significant differnce between the L and F visa except that it permits me to stay in the country longer? Specifically in terms of duration of issuance, required documents and price? Thank you in advance!

L visa is issued for sightseeing and family visiting in China. In principle, you can't do intership in China with a L visa. Once you were found out, you may be published. The price of a L visa and a F visa is the same, but as what you said, you need the invitation of a duly authorized Chinese unit confirmation of invitation for a F business visa application.
