My family and I were born in Hong Kong and we would like to apply for Hong Kong I.D. cards through the Chinese Consulate here in Vancouver.  My questions are:1. Which address do we go to - the one on 3380 Granville St. or the Visa Office on 1338 .W. Broadway?2. How to make an appointment -- I tried many times but could not get through by phone  -- do we just show up?3. Can we download the application form ROP143 so we can prepare it beforehand to save time there.4. Do I have to bring my whole family there in person? or can I apply for my children who were born in H.K.Thank you very much in advance.

If you can not get appointment by phone, you can just go to the embassy in person. 3. Yes, you need to complete the ROP143 and its copy in advance, as well as other documents required on www.immd.gov.hk.4. You can do it on their behalf, make sure all documents are well prepared.

Thank you very much for answering my previous questions (Apr. 13, 2012). We completed Form ROP143 and everything else as required and went to the Consulate and we were told by the reception person that we cannot apply for Hong Kong I.D card alone; we MUST apply for SAR HK Passport together with I.D. card at the same time as well! We have no need for a SAR HK Passport. Is it possible to apply for just the HK I.D. card? Thank you.

yes, you have to apply for Hong Kong ID card and Hong Kong SAR passport at the same time, it is impossible for you to get a Hong Kong ID card alone.
