About:Chinese Embassy in Switzerland

I am travelling to Hong Kong and China in May and need to know where I can obtain my visa?

I live in Switzerland (and have a B permit) and am a British passport holder. I am travelling to Hong Kong and China in May and need to know where I can obtain my visa? Can I book an appointment to come to your offices in Bern to do this? Or do I have to send you my passport? Sending my passport is difficult as I travel regularly and cannot be without it for more than a few days at a time. Thank you very much for your help with this. Emily Gasztowtt

You may just apply for the China visa from the China Embassy in Switzerland, but the embassy doesn't accept visa application by post, and they don't provide mail back service, either. You don't need to make any appointment in advance, just go to the embassy to submit the applicatin directly during their office hours. If it's not convenient for you to go in person, you may also entrust a friend or a trave/visa agent.

Dear Ivy, you kindly replied to my initial enquiry re my visa for my British passport, I am now planning a trip to Bern to get this next Thursday (26th April). I live three hours away and was wondering how long it will take for me to get the visa? I cannot stay overnight as I need to get back to my children. also, there is no mention of the fee for a British passport, please could you let me know how much money I need to bring with me. Can I book an appointment? Thank you very much for your kind help with this. Emily Gasztowtt

The visa process usually takes 5 working days, but there are also special same day service (you must submit the application before 11:00 in the morning) and 2-3 working days service. A single entry China visa costs around 80CHF for British passport holders. But you'd better take more, since the regulation is always changing. No appointment is needed.
