About:Chinese Embassy in Australia

flying into china - 2 stops but only in transit - not leaving airport. Do we need to get visas

arrive Guangzhou at 4.30pm, leave there to fly to Beijing at 10am, arrive Beijing 12.50pm leave Beiijing at 2.20pm - so less than 24 hours

So if you won't leave the airport, you don't need any visa for the two stops in China. If you plan to leave the airport to go to the City, you may either apply for a China transit visa from the China Embassy or consulate in your living place or apply for a 24-hour stay permit at the airport on arrival.
