About:China Visa Application Procedure and Fee

Michael asked about visa for Guangzhou layover - I have a similar situation with Shanghai

Is this answer specific to Guangzhou given the flight times? I'm arriving late night into Shanghai and taking a cruise the following day. I will still need that visa won't I?

Australian passport holders are permitted to transit Shanghai for up to 48 hours without a visa, provided that they have valid passports, visas for the onward countries.
