can we travel on a passport is less than 6 months validity

Hi, my husband is currently working in China and me and my young son both have chinese resident permit(valid till April this year) because of it, we would like to visit again next month but I just realized my son's passport runs out in May, can we still fly to China with his current passport (less than 6 months)?

Yes, you can still fly to China with his current passport valid for less than 6 months. A passport with at least 6 months is required when you apply for China visa, now, your son has Chinese resident permit valid till April, 2012, it is ok for him to go to China in February.
