Business (F) Visa to China

Hello. I am US citizen currently located in South Korea. I would like to acquire a Business Visa to go to mainland China. Here is what I understand. I need to have an invitation letter issued to me from China. I need to have a valid passport with more than 6-months of remaining validity. Bring one passport sized photo. Is there anything else that I will need to bring with me? I am in Seoul on holiday; I currenly hold a 90-day tourist visa. Any information is appreciated. Thank you, Flor

Thank you for the previous response. I have new question. How about a Working Visa to China? I have potential job offer coming from corporation in China. How do I go about getting proper paper work to get to China? I plan to go directly from Seoul to China. My contact in China will send me necessary invitation letter.

This visa stuff does not make any sense. China and USA do loads of international business. What if American employee is on business trip to South Korea and then is required to go to China. Are you telling me it is impossible for US citizen to go directly from South Korea to China without Korean ID card? Is it this way for other nationalities as well? That sounds outrageous to me.

You can't obtain a China business visa (F visa) in Seoul because you don't hold a Korean Alien Registration Card with at least 6 months remaining validity.

You can't get a China work visa in Seoul, either, as Ms.Elliott replied, you don't hold a Korean Alien Registration Card with at least 6 months remaining validity. You have to go to Hong Kong or Macau or Japan or other neighboring country to apply for a work visa to China.

Alright then. Clearly I cannot fly directly from Seoul to Beijing. I assume that L visa is also impossible to get here without Korea ID card. Can I acquire tourist visa (L visa) in Taiwan? You mentioned neighboring countries such as Japan or HK. How about Taiwan? Can I get necessary visa to China in Taipei?

There is no China visa office in Taiwan, for Taiwanese and foreigners in Taiwan, they need to post the visa requirements to Visa Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in Hong Kong SAR to obtain a China visa. You can also obtain the visa through the travel agency CTS in hong kong to apply for the visa, which is much easier.

This rule is for all nationalities, all aliens in Korea who don't hold an Alien Registration Card with at least 6 months validity can't obtain a China visa in Korea. I agree with you, this rule is ridiculous, making many aliens in Korea can't go to China. However, it is the rule, we are not the policy makers, just to follow it.
