About:Requirements for Permanent Residence Permit

I have a 1-year "Residence Permit" because my wife is Chinese. Can I work enywehre in China now?

After 9 years of living and working in Shanghai, I have just been refused another 1-year work permit by the local authorities due to my advanced age (65 in April next year). This makes it impossible for me to obtain another 1 -year Z-Residence permit and visa. I now plan to get a 1-year residence permit, based on the fact that I have been married to a Chinese for more than 6 years (she has a Shanghai Hukou), and own a house in Shanghai. Once I have this "residence permit", am I able to continue working legally without a specific work permit?

Holders of this kind of resident permit are not allowed to work in China.
