Am I allowed to get transit visa in the airport?

Hi! I will be having a 12-hour layover in PEK on my trip to Manila. What is the best thing to do while inside the airport while waiting for my connecting flight? Am I allowed to go out of the airport and visit the city? What are the visa requirements? Btw I'm a Filipino :)

There are some tax-free shops at the airport. You can go shopping there while waiting for your flight.
If you go out of the airport transit area, you'll need to apply for a transit visa in advance. Where are you going to apply for the visa? Because the requirements differ from embassy to embassy. The basic requirements are passport, visa application form V2011A and V2011B, and one recent passport.
