Do we need visas if we stay in a hotel near the airport while transitting in Beijing?

iam going to thailand with my thai girlfriend she got thai passport i have ireland passport we go in december we stop of in beijing for 12 hours do we need a visa and the same on the way back mabey 15hours we would like to stay in hotel next to air port

If you go out of the airport transit area to stay in a nearby hotel, you will need china visas. If you only stay in the airport transit area for less than 24 hours, you won't need visas.
