Train from Beijing to Kunming

Hello, I and my friend are planning to take the train from Beijing to Kunming the 24th of January. I know its 2 days after the Chinese New Year’s Eve. So my question now is: How high are the chances that we could get soft or hard-sleep seats that day? Will be full? Shall we consider other options?
