is it better to visit the centre from xianfrom beijing in nov 2011

me and my friends are taking a train tour that will commence from beijing -xian-shanghai for 7 days and i would like to visit the panda breeding centre and play/ feed the baby pandas. I wont have time to volunteer. would appreciate if you can guide me through. We students are also promoting china at our university.

Xian is of course nearer to Chengdu. It would be easier to go there from Xian. The other problem is I didn't see any formal report saying that Wolong has reopened to the public since the quake. So, if you want to see panda, go to Bifengxia or Chengdu Panda Bredding and Research Center.
