About:Chinese Embassy in Malaysia

Can I apply multiple entry with 2 years validity for my first time China visa?

It is for family visit.

You can give it a try. But it is difficult in getting it. It depends on the visa officers. Remember to state the reasons for getting the multiple entry with 24 months validity. If you can provide a Kinship Certificate, it will hlpe too. Good luck~
