You are just do investigation this time, right? Then a China L Tourist Visa will be ok for you. You may just apply for the visa from the local Embassy or Consulate with the documents below:
1. Your valid passport with 6 months validity and blank pages.
2. A ful-filled visa application form affixed with a recent-taken photo of passport size. Please note that if you will apply for the visa in New Zealand, your husband should fill in the Visa Application Form V2011B in addition to the Form V2011A.
3. Round-way air tickets.
4. Hotel Booking in China.
