About:Tiger Leaping Gorge (Hutiao Gorge)

Is 1 day exploring Tiger Leaping Gorge on my own advisable?

Is it advisable for us (2 persons) to visit the site on our own using public transport or should we follow a group? We will be staying in Old Town Lijiang and how much time to reach there? Is there any suggested itinerary that we should follow? One of us can speak Mandarin.

It depends on how the tour group arrange the day itinerary. Of course more free to see the place by your own. Take bus from Lijiang to 桥头 Qiaotou, about 2-3 hours. Then take bus to Middle Leaping Tiger Gorge. Hiking for 3-4 hours and then you have to back. For you only have one day.
