Yes, your wife can apply for a new Chinese passport through China embassy in Kuala Lumpur and China consulate in Kuching, she has to submit the application in person to the embassy/consulate.

She need to take the following documents:
1. her present passport
2. three passport photos
3. Chinese passport application form
4. Malaysian multi entry visa and its copy

It takes about 1 month for processing.

Once she gets a new Chinese passport, she can take the old and new ones together, then the Malaysian visa on the old passport can be still used. She can also go to the Malaysian immigration office to get a new visa on her new Chinese passport.

Hi,
During the processing of the new china passport in Kuching, Sarawak, can my wife still retain her old passport? If no, will she be able to travel within Malaysia, or the consulate will issue a temp pass to allow her to staying / travel within Malaysia in that period of time?
Please advise!
Thanks.

Donovan, usually, when she applies for a new passport, the old passport needs to be submitted.
Maybe she can travel within Malaysia with the receipt issued by the consulate of PRC.

Hi Victor,
Thanks for your reply.
But my concerns is that currently me & my wife are permanently staying at JB, Malaysia and will be travelled to Kuching, Sarawak by taking flight.
If the old passport need to be submitted, I doubt if my wife still able to flying back to JB without passport.
I bet she'll have to stay there until the new passport issued.

Can I obtain the application form from the China Embassy Website (Malaysia)? I can't find it. Or do I need to get the application form at the embassy itself? Kindly advice.

If you cannot find it from the China Embassy Website (Malaysia), you can download it from the official website of the China Visa Application Center in Malaysia.
