Don't worry, your passport is ok for use to visit Macao and China in August in 2011. China visa requires passport should be valid for more than 6 months.

Because you are not required visa to Macao for 180 Days, so, your passport should be valid for at least 7 months (one month longer than the Maximum stay in Macao, e.g. until March 4). But it is ok if you have ticket for leaving or any proof that you will leave on August 4.
But if you want to visit China mainland, your passport should be valid for more than 6 months from the date you submit your visa application.

You'd better renew your passport first, then go to Macau, the immigration officers are possibly refuse you to enter Macau with a passport valid for less than 6 months.
