About:Chinese Consulate in Vancouver

My friend had her Chinese Visa stolen. can someone else picks up her new Chinese visa from the consulate?

She has applied at the Vancouver Chinese Visa office for replacement. Is there a special form the Chinese government requires to be filled in – for when the actual passport holder authorizes someone else to pick up the new Chinese passport. I ask, as it is a day’s drive to get to Vancouver therefore, FAR less money to authorize another person living in Vancouver to pick up my friend’s passport and then courier it to her.

If she does not want to go to the consulate in person, she can send the application to a client or travel agency in Vancouver to submit the application on her behalf. No form or letter of entrustment is needed.

Ms.ENID: thank you for your reply. However, my friend has already applied for her replacement Chinese Passport ... in other words, the application form for her new Chinese Visa has now been received by the Chinese Consulate in Vancouver.

I need to know if a specific “form or letter of entrustment” is needed for a different person being allowed to pick up her new Chinese passport. In appreciation of your help .....

"form or letter of entrustment” is not required for a different person being allowed to pick up her new Chinese passport. You just need to take the pick-up receipt to collect the passport, you need to pay for the Chinese passport renewal when you collect the passport.

liamh, in fact, I'm a little puzlled by your question, was your friend's Chinese visa stolen or was her Chinese passport stolen? She applied Chinese visa or Chinese passport?

Ms.ELLIOTT: I appreciate your response - thank you. In actuality, my friend had to send her Chinese Passport and her Visa to Canada to the Canadian Consulate in Seattle (plus copy of Canadian Work Permit), in order for the Visa to Canada to be renewed. Consulate insists FedEx be used as courier – however, FedEx delivered her renewed Visa to Canada and her Chinese Passport back to Canada to the WRONG address and the WRONG person and can not locate the package. FedEx has admitted their mistake and we have a file with the RCMP. All has been an appalling, stressful and costly mess, as FedEx refuses to offer compensation. As we live in Penticton, there are many costs simply for the travelling to and from Vancouver and staying over night, much less the other costs involved.
