About:China Tourist Visa

Do I need to reapply for a X visa or is my L visa (which has multiple entries) okay?

I traveled with a group in China about a month. I have just received a scholarship to study there for a year. Do I need to reapply for a X visa or is my L visa (which has multiple entries) okay? I was wondering because when I get there I need to apply for a residence permit.

You have to return to your home country or go to Hong Kong to apply X visa, it is impossible for you to change your L visa into X visa within Mainland China. After entering Mainland China by holding a X visa, you need to apply for a residence permit.
