About:Chinese Embassy in Belgium

Documents needed for visa application for China if I will visit my friends there.

"Or if you visit friends in China, should provide the invitation letter, assurance and identification of the friends or permanent resident (copy). "
Is it right to say that, when I visit friends in China, I don't need a return ticket, and I don't need a booking document for the hotel in China?
What does it mean that I need "assurance" from the friend or permanent resident in China?

Yes, you are right, if you are visiting friend in China, return ticket and hotel bookings are not required. You need to provide invitation letter from your friend, arrurance means your friend will offer you accommodation which should be written in the invitation letter. Identification of him/her are also required, such as copy of passport, china visa, and residence permit. If he/she is Chinese, copy of ID card arerequired.
