About:Chinese Consulates in South Korea

I'm Canadian, what do I need to bring to apply for a work visa and when can I do this?

I am frustrated beyond belief trying to get information about what I need to bring to the Gwanjiu agency in order to apply for my Z-Visa. I already have the invitation letter and other documentation from the school I will be working at in Guangzhou. Nobody will answer my calls or send promised texts or deliver any information. I am not sure if it is a lack of English or some other unfathomable reason. Time is running out but I am not in a position to make a 2-hour trip (one way) for nothing. I need to know What do I need to bring to apply for a Z visa and when can I do this?- the things that are usually posted on a website in detail.

Am I to understand that I may not be able to get my Z-visa for a job I have already obtained in China due to only having 6 weeks left on my ARC? My contract in Korea will be over and I have the documentation from Guangzhou. What are my options? It is hard to believe that I would be denied entry to one place to fulfill a contract - from a place where I will have fulfilled my contractual obligations. Please advise.

You'd better return to your home country to apply for Z visa, now it is impossible for you to get it in Korea because there is only 6 weeks left on your ARC. The consulate in Gwangju asks non-Korean applicants to provide ARC with at least 6 months remaining validity.

Thanks for your last answer. Surely this stipulation is a violation of human rights. There is no way I have the time etc. to make it back to Canada - I work here until I have to depart for China to start a job there. Can this Korean rule stop me as a Canadian national from going to my job in China. After all, it would have been impossible to have an ARC with 6 or so months remaining in order to fulfill my contractual obligations here - any advice would be more than appreciated. Thanks!

Ms.Geraldine, it's true that this rule is unreasonable, however, we can do nothing to bargain with the China embassy or consulate. This rule makes many foreigners in Korea can't get a China visa in Korea. You can contact a travel agency to check the new rule about visa application.

I have a similar problem to you, except it is just to visit friends.
You can take all your paperwork and go to Hong Kong (or Macao) and try to get the visa through Forever Bright travel agency, or the PRC Consulate (?) in HK. I don't think they care there about your Korea Alien Card expiry date.
