About:Xitang Water Town

Hello. I'm planning a trip in China which will go from Hangzhou->Xitang (or Wuzhen)->Shanghai in the same day. I'd like to start very early from Hangzhou and be in Shanghai by around 3pm. Could you please advise on which water town is more picturesque? And, which one has better transportation options from Hangzhou and to Shanghai? Can I take a train, or does it have to be a bus? Thanks.

I have been to Xitang, but to be frank, water towns look similar. Xitang is not big. Comparatively, it is convenient and more faster to go to Wuzhen from Hangzhou. Both of the town has diect bus back to Shanghai. I heard that there is direct bus back to Shanghai after I visited Xitang. However, few buese. So, If you go to Wuzhen, you can go back to TongXiang, to Xitang, back to Jiashan first. Then back to Shanghai. For Wuzhen is closer to Hangzhou, Xitang is closer to Shanghai. It took 2 hours from Hangzou East Coach Station to Jiashan and 20 minutes to Xitang then, 1.5 hours from Xitang to Shanghai South Coach Station.
