About:China Train

I understand there are 4 bunk beds in each soft-sleeper cabin. Since there are 3 travelers in our group, is it possible to buy an extra ticket so that we can have the cabin to ourselves? (In other words, does each ticket have to have a name assigned to it?)

Yes, you could buy four soft sleeper tickets to occupy the whole compartment for you three.
