I will be bringing a ipad and iphone for personal use, Ive heard that they will tax if if I am caught with it but technically its just like any other electonic for personal use and its not the super fancy ones, its just the normal 16GB with WIFI so its like the cheapest ipad that doesn't exceed 5000RMB

Yes, no matter how much they cost, the custom will charge the tax based on 5000RMB (20%). If you just bring your own Ipad and Iphone, and they are not brand new in packing, that's okay. You won't pay for the tax.

Should I still declare it? Keep it in checked or carry on?
