About:China Transit Visa

Hi I live in Australia but I am a finnish (Finland) passport holder. Next July I will be travelling from Sydney to Dubai via Peking and I have in Peking about 12 hours before the connecting flight. Now I would like to do a bit sight seeing or rest in a hotel while there so the question is do I need a visa and what kind?
