About:Chinese Embassy in New Zealand

Hi, I am a NZ citizen En Route to USA stopping in Shanghai for 5 hours. Will I need a visa?

You don't need a visa for the transit in Shanghai. You can go out of the airport to visit Shanghai without a visa during the stopover.
