We are travelling to China in April with our 3 children (11, 10 and 7) and wondering if Guilin would be a good place to spend 5-6 days?  We have time in the big cities but wanted to see some of rural China and natural beauty - our other thoughts was Chengdu and the pandas and nat parks there?  Any insights would be great appreciated! I think Guilin will be better than Chengdu if you want to taste the rural China and enjoy the natural beauty. After touring Guilin, you could travel on the beautiful Li River on a boat down to Yangshuo, which is also famous for its natural beauty. You could ride a bike or take an electric car to tour Yangshuo.
