About:China Weather

hi, i would be very grateful if someone could tell me whether it would be silly to plan a hiking trip northwest of Kunming/Yunnan in July/ August. I know it's the 'rainy season', however, on the climate map it doesn't look as if precipitation is overly high. But how serious are landslides and does 'rainy season' mean it's going to be grey/ cloudy all day, or just that every day there'll be some precipitation, after which it'll clear up?
Otherwise, is there anywhere in China (not including the very north-western parts or Mongolia) where it is NOT going to pour down in JUly/ August?
Hoping for some positive feedback... and thanks very much in advance
Kika

It may rain for averal days continously in Yunnan during the rainy season in July and August. I'm afraid most parts of China will be hot and humid in July and August. My advice is you can still go to Kunming, Gulin, Yangshuo and Shangri-la. It won't rain on and on during the two months, there will be clear days from time to time. Furthurmore, you may also enjoy different view of those places even if it rains.
