About:Chinese Embassy in Japan

Hello,

I'm French and normally residing in Germany.
I have been living in Japan since 2010, September 9th and my visa goes until 2011 September 9th. I am planning on visiting China from th 18th until the 21st of March this year, so technically I should get a tourist visa in Tokyo. But from what I read here, to do that I need to still stay in Japan for more than 6 months. My visa goes until September 9th, so it should be ok, but I'm leaving August 17th already. Does this matter, or can I still apply for a tourist visa for the above mentioned dates?

Also, is there any way I can do aply without having to go to the office? I'm asking this because opening hours are during my working hours and I unfortunately can't leave work and am not sure who to ask to go for me.

Finally, I'm planning on going to South Korea end of April-beginn of March, but I will have a transit at Shanghai, Pu Dong, with 2 different air companies (ANA and China Airways). Do I need a visa for this too? I will probably be staying at the airport for a couple of hours, since my flight from Japan arrives at lunchtime and the flight from Shanghai will be sometime in the afternoon.

Thank you in advance for your answers.

It doesn't matter, you can still apply for a tourist visa to China in Tokyo. Your Japanese visa valid until September 9, 2011 is very helpful for your application even though you leave Japan on August 17th.

The application by mail/post is not accepted, you can submit visa application in person or entrust a travel agency to do so.

A transit visa is not required for your transit in Shanghai Pudong airport.

Thank you for your answer. I kind of got a new question, though...

My parents (living in Germany) are coming next friday to visit me in Japan. Would it be possible for them to apply for a visa for me in Germany and then bring it to me? Or is my passport necessary for applying for a visa? (so if a friend in Japan went, the would need my passport?)

Yes, original passport is required when apply for China visa, if time is enough, you can send them your passport. If not, you can just apply it in Japan.

Thank you for your answer.
I have decided to ask a friend to apply for the visa for me. It seems to be the easiest solution.
Still, I have just read that my Certificate of alien registration (probably meaning my Alien Registration Card) is needed as well. Does it have to be the actual card, or can I make a copy of the card and give the copy to my friend, or does it have to be the actual card too?

Hi, Ms.Jacob, the alien registration should be original.
